I’ve been a Liverpool supporter since the early 70’s and was fortunate enough to be in the Kop when Kevin Keegan made his debut on 14 August 1971 against Nottingham Forest.

After 12 minutes Kevin scored his first goal for the Reds from a mis-hit shot and the rest, as they say, is history.

Fast forward to 1990, one year after I had emigrated to Canada, and I was delighted to find out a tour of ex-first division players, including one Kevin Keegan, were going to be playing a local team.

It just so happened a friend of mine was the sports announcer at the local TV station and he told me he was going to interview Keegan the night before the game. Of course I told him how he was my hero so he invited me to the studio to meet him!

On Saturday, Nov 28th, I posted a simple survey asking if Rafa was still the man to lead Liverpool now and in the future or was it time to make a management change.

The results showed an emphatic support for Rafa.

Of the 307 votes cast, a resounding 71% felt we should have faith in Rafa with only 29% feeling it was time for a change. By the way, I did keep an eye on the voting before and after the Everton match and there was no difference in the percentages of those who were for or against Benitez.

I admit I was a little surprised by these results as I thought Rafa’s leadership would be called into question a lot more due to Liverpool’s poor performance so far this season.

Do you agree with these results? Are you surprised? Or are they indicative of the loyalty of Liverpool supporters who stick by their manager through thick and thin?

It’s summer time and every club in Europe is looking to strengthen its squad. Over the years we’ve see the price of players continually increasing but this year it seems to have, as Rafa quite rightly put it, gone crazy. Even for a club of Liverpool’s stature the ‘star’ players are simply unaffordable. I’m sure the signing of Glen Johnson in a years time will look like a brilliant piece of business, even though the £18m fee was questioned as being over the odds.

I had the pleasure of going to a Seattle Sounders soccer match a few weeks ago to see them play the Columbus Crew at Qwest Field. As a Liverpool FC supporter I was curious to see what the standard of football was like in the MLS as well see how U.S. soccer fans supported their team.
