Ryan Babel sums up perfectly the thoughts of all Liverpool supporter.

Once again Howard Webb showed his true colours and favoured Man Utd with two critical decisions against Liverpool in the FA Cup tie at Old Trafford on Sunday. A dive by Berbatov in the penalty box (yes he dived!) and a Steven Gerrard sending off  (a yellow at best) tipped the balance in favour of Utd. In spite of this, Liverpool matched United even with 10 men.

Webb has a history of making decisions against Liverpool. He gave a penalty to Man Utd last season (Click Here) when a foul was committed outside the box and in February denied Liverpool a last-minute penalty against Arsenal when Febregas clearly handled the ball from a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Ryan Babel is now in hot water with the FA for posting a justifiable image of Webb in a United shirt (above). Instead of taking action against Babel maybe the FA should review the two decisions more carefully and take action against Webb.

It’s hard to believe but the January transfer window is just over a month away and much of the talk will be centred on who Liverpool will bring in to strengthen the squad so we can make a push for that all important 4th spot.

Just as important, however, will be who Liverpool should let go. So for the sake of creating a heated debated here are my top 5 picks of the players that should be thanked for their services and then politely shown the door. (more…)

Is Ryan Babel meant to stay at Anfield?

It wouldn’t come as a surprise to any Liverpool FC supporter if Ryan Babel was sold during the January transfer window. After paying Ajax £11.5m for him back in 2007 Babel has been unable to show his true potential at Anfield and display his undoubted talents to the full. It was therefore difficult to understand why Liverpool would reject a very good offer of £9m for him from Birmingham City.

Potential new signing Maxi Rodriguez to give Liverpool FC players a kick up the backside

It looks like Liverpool FC manager, Rafa Benitez, will be limited to adding just two new players in the January transfer window. Even though Rafa is close to offloading under-performers Andrea Dossena (£4.4m to Napoli) and Andriy Voronin (£1.5-2m to Dinamo Moscow), any additional funds their sales generate won’t be used to buy new players but instead help reduce the clubs debt. Surprisingly this was not requested by the American owners but due to club executives belief that players are overpriced this time of year. The money will be saved for the summer transfer window instead. As a result of only being able to bring in a maximum of two players, Ryan Babel is seemingly no longer for sale as Rafa feels he needs him to maintain depth in the squad.

Benitez was quoted as saying “We are looking in the market but it’s not easy to find good players available because the majority of them are playing in top sides. But we are trying to find solutions if we can. We have some good players who people are interested in because they’re not playing too many games for us, but we have to manage carefully.” (more…)
