Wayne Rooney elbows James McCarthy
Just like the Football Association, I watched the replay of Wayne Rooney mugging Wigan’s James McCarthy (to watch the video CLICK HERE). The fact they decided to take no action is utterly amazing and quite literally incompetent. Like a schoolboy bully Rooney ran up behind McCarthy and elbowed him on the side of the head when he wasn’t looking, a foul that was clearly seen by referee Mark Clatternburg, but who decided to simply give a free kick. Rooney should have been sent off, no question.
But of course he’s Fergie’s boy and just like Rafa Benitez said 2 years ago, when he went on his Ferguson rant, there’s one rule for Man Utd. and another for everyone else.
It only goes to show how right Rafa was.
I’m not defending Rooney. However, your suggestion that only United get away with it is totally wrong. Steven Gerrard did exactly the same thing to Michael Brown last season and got away with it on the same grounds!
