The Greatest Prize
Maybe I’m just an eternal optimist but even after Liverpool’s third defeat of the season last Sunday I still believe they can turn it around a make a title challenge. I thought Liverpool we’re a shot on target away from picking up points at Chelsea and we matched them for much of game with the differences in performance only being marginal. Reality is, we’ve put one of the toughest fixtures of the season behind us and its only early October.
Don’t forget Man Utd. won the Premiership last season after taking only 6 points from a possible 18 against the other top four teams but what they did do was win against the lower teams and that’s what Liverpool have to focus on starting at Sunderland on October 17th.
We’re 6 points adrift of Chelsea and 4 behind Man Utd. after 8 games, but that’s not a disaster. If we’re still 6 points behind them on January 1st then we’re right in the hunt. Rafa has been proved absolutely right in his belief that the other top teams will lose a lot more games this season and it hasn’t been by the big clubs as both Burnley and Wigan have proven. The objective from now on is to not let the point’s gap get any wider but to keep within a game or two of the leaders and give ourselves a chance.
Write Liverpool off it you want but here’s one fan that definitely wont be.
